ABA Tip Sheets

Staff at the Knapp Center for Childhood Development have created multiple tip sheets that we share with our families to help them understand procedural techniques in teaching a specific skill to their child or in helping them understand the strategies to implement to reduce problematic behaviors.

The tip sheets explain the skill, why it is important to use the skill and tips or strategies to teach the skill. For example, click here to see the tip sheet Pointing to Request. Here, the Knapp Center staff outlines several naturally occurring scenarios that could teach a child to point to request at home. Tip sheets are also provided to patients to help them understand behavior reduction strategies often used in ABA program. For example, click here to see a tip sheet on Extinction. Here, the Knapp Center staff offers strategies for effectively using extinction to reduce unexpected behaviors.
